Summertime is right around the corner, and whether you still get a summer vacation or not, now is a great time to plan your next getaway. Plus, day trips are the cheapest way to go on a vacation without feeling like you need to live as cheaply as possible afterwards.
In this week’s blog post, we’ll be telling our residents about some of the best day trips to take from your apartment community. Some of these trips might take as little as an hour or two, while others could be more like 3 hours. Whether you’re looking for a weekend getaway or a quick, scenic drive through the countryside, you’ll find your perfect day trip on the list below!
Without further delay, let’s dive into this week’s blog. When you’re done reading it, please be sure to share the link to this post with your friends and neighbors at your apartments for rent in Owasso!
When most people think of resort towns, they don’t think of any towns in Oklahoma. Medicine Park, however, is a pristine little resort town that’s perfect for a couple looking for a weekend getaway or a short day trip. The town sits right next to the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge, which is one of the rare mountainous areas in Oklahoma. Inside the town itself, you’ll find plenty of boutiques, restaurants and cafes. The coolest part about the town, however, is what it looks like. Most buildings in the town are made of cobblestone, which is found naturally in this part of the state.
With over 30 different kinds that are made on the winery, Woods & Winery is one of the best, if not the best winery in Oklahoma. You can taste the wine for free, and the views from their wine tasting room are spectacular. They have a beautiful outdoor patio to sit on, or you can walk around the winery grounds with a glass and learn about the winemaking process. If you can find lodging nearby, this winery makes for a great weekend getaway!
If you’ve got a boat, or know someone who does, you can’t beat a day trip to Broken Bow Lake. The lake is absolutely massive, covering more than more than 14,000 acres. It’s also bordered on most sides by gorgeous pine forests, which are an unusual sight in Oklahoma. You can kayak, fish, swim, or just rent a log cabin on the lake and relax for a weekend.
With that, we’ve reached the end of our list of Oklahoma day trips! We hope you found some cool destinations on the list above, and that you get the chance to explore our great state this summer.
