Hey 98 Apartments Owasso residents, February 14th is fast approaching. It’s never too early to start thinking about Valentine’s Day. The earlier you begin planning, the more magical the day will be. Believe it or not, Oklahoma is actually a very romantic state. Whether you’re into outdoorsy date destinations or dimly lit cafes and restaurants, there’s something to find within driving distance of your Owasso apartments.
Today, we’ll take a look at a few Valentine’s Day date ideas that are a little more experiential than your typical night of wine and seafood. No offense to wine and seafood, but the combination has become a bit predictable. We do have one restaurant on this list, but it’s really more about the ambiance surrounding the wine and seafood, considering the restaurant is actually a castle. Enjoy our list and let us know if you decide to take your date to any of these destinations!
Take a short drive from your apartments in Owasso to a castle built in a hill. This is the place to take your date when you feel like going all out on Valentine’s Day. Castle Falls has been around since 1945, when it was built out of the old Oklahoma City courthouse by a WWII soldier who had become infatuated with the castles he’d seen in Europe. With the help of a hired construction crew, he built this castle into the hillside using many tons of dirt to fortify the walls. It truly looks like something out of The Hobbit, according to multiple Tripadvisor reviews. The soldier and his family lived into this beautifully constructed home for many years. After their deaths, the building turned into many things before becoming Castle Falls restaurant in 2009.
If you do decide to go, you better make your reservation right away. The restaurant only has 9 tables and they fill up fast. Hopefully you’re able to get a reservation, because we’ve heard that the steak, lobster and wine are all top-of-the-line.
February is peak Eagle watching season in Oklahoma. If you don’t think eagles ae romantic, you’ll be surprised to hear just how lovey-dovey they are. Bald eagles mate for life, so drop that knowledge bomb on your date if they begin to question your decision to go bald eagle watching on Valentine’s day.
Thankfully, some of the location for viewing bald eagles are just as beautiful as the eagles themselves. Arcadia Lake is fairly close to our Owasso apartments, offering almost 26 miles of beautiful shoreline.
Kaw Lake is the premiere area in the state for eagle viewing, and it’s even closer than Arcadia. Kaw Lake is filled with eagles because it was the site of repopulation efforts in the 1980s. More than 250 American bald eagles were released into the woods around the lake, so you can imagine how many there are now. Eagle watching: don’t knock it ‘till you try it.
Quick, what parts of the world do you think of when you hear the word, “Chocolate.” France? Switzerland? Hershey, Pennsylvania? You’re not wrong, but It’s about time you start thinking about some of the local chocolatiers right here in Oklahoma. By the way, is there a cooler job title than “Chocolatier?” It’s hard to think of a better one. These masters of their craft work in places like Davis and Tulsa at stores with names like Bedré Fine Chocolates and Glacier Confection.
